Hey my friends, this is the article 47 / 1000! For those who don’t know me, my name is Selim Chehimi and I’m an engineering student. I’ve been programming for 7 years now so you can tell that I really enjoy that. Those 7 years of programming lead me to Artificial Intelligence. I really want to be involved in AI so that’s the reason why I’m sharing this article with you. I hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. Today, we’ll be talking about Artificial Intelligence! Did you know that you were already using it?
Nowadays, Artificial Intelligence is hidden everywhere. You don’t see it but if it suddenly disappears, you’ll remark it immediately. That’s the beauty of AI: a bunch of hidden algorithms that makes your life better. For example, I have downloaded Google Agenda recently on the Play Store, and I must say that it’s so good! Google Agenda is … a calendar that is using AI. It will drastically help you to organize your time and events. Basically, Google Agenda is a kind of personal digital assistant. It’s like Siri, Google Now, and Cortana: they’re all personal digital assistants on various platforms. AI is tremendously important in these tools, Microsoft says that Cortana “continually learns about its user” and that it will eventually develop the ability to anticipate users’ needs. These assistants can do that because of Machine Learning (ML) which is everywhere. Large retailers like Target and Amazon stand to make a lot of money if they can anticipate your needs (“You will also like” or “Frequently bought together”). That’s ML, my friends. Do you want another example? Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter Feed are showing you the post that you’re more likely to like because of ML (it’s all based on your preference). All this AI technology is extremely mind-blowing.
To some extent, anyone using a smartphone is already using some sort of machine intelligence! Give it a few years, and your smartphone’s AI will have power enough to understand the context of what you’re doing, figure out how it should help (call or text people to say you’re late? Understand whose emails you do and don’t want to receive at times? and act on it. Your smartphone, your car, your bank, and your house all use artificial intelligence daily. This Technology is everywhere.
